The Mental Health Association in New Jersey in Ocean County offers a Text for Recovery service, providing emotional support to adults via text. To access, text the word RECOVERY to 51684.
The Text for Recovery (T4R) text line is live seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It consists of three components:
It works through two-way messaging and initiated keywords. When an individual texts, the personal concierge offers participants the option to receive personal messages up to three times a week. These messages range from emotional support, lifestyle support, therapy/treatment information and more. The live two-way messaging is a way for participants to reach out during hours of operations for emotional support and referrals with text specialists.
The initiated keywords is a message service based on six keywords that participants can text in to 51684 as many times a day as they would like. For example, texting in the word “mood” where they would receive a motivational message.
The T4R text line offers enrollees a direct referral to a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) if they require more extensive services. Once enrollees fill out the referral form, they will be contacted by a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist within 24 hours. This gives enrollees the opportunity to connect with a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
T4R is a free service, available to Ocean County residents who are 18 years of age and above.
