Elevate Your Career with the CRSP Credential

Established in 2011, the Certified Recovery Support Practitioner (CRSP) credential serves as New Jersey’s mental health Peer Specialist credential. The credential is meant for peer support workers who identify as having lived experience with mental health or co-occurring issues, and who work or plan to work in a mental health or co-occurring setting.

This credential, governed by the Addiction Professionals Certification Board, Inc., is granted to peer workers who have met a combination of educational and work experience requirements. Consumer Connections is proud to be the education provider for the CRSP credential. Peers seeking the CRSP credential will be required to complete the following:

84-Hour Core Training
18-Hour WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) workshop
500 Hours of approved work experience

How It Works

Consumer Connections is committed to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in mental health and co-occurring services peer support. Historically, pursuing the CRSP credential involved a significant financial hurdle with a $175 application fee. However, with the support of DMHAS, we now cover the application fee for all eligible Consumer Connections graduates.

Eligibility Criteria

The CRSP Scholarship initiative supports individuals seeking initial certification, recertification, or reactivation of an expired CRSP credential. Eligibility criteria ensure fairness and align with the requirements set by the Certification Board. The criteria are as follows:
