Partial Care Pre-Vocational Training

Approved and required by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health andAddiction Services, this series provides the core competencies needed to prepare you to assist consumers in partial care settings to become work ready. Topics, explained below, include the relationship of work to recovery, the Social Security Administration Work Incentives, the role of the family and much more.

Pre-registration is required by the deadline noted for each session.

All sessions will be held in our new training location, 2333 Morris Ave., Building C, Suite 206/208, Union, New Jersey.

Please provide your own lunch on training days.

Please note that sessions F1 and F2 are mandatory pre-requisites for other sessions and to attain completion certificate.

Methods for Teaching Employment Related Skills (S9), Wed., June 19, 2013; 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., 2333 Morris Ave., Building C, Suite 206/208, Union

  • Examine how skill groups differ from support and other types of groups.
  • Gain group leadership skills for running successful employment groups.
  • Learn strategies for teaching skills in an effective and interesting manner.

Co-occurring Disorders and Employment (P1), Wed., June 26, 2013; 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., 2333 Morris Ave., Building C, Suite 206/208, Union

  • Explore employment for those with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.
  • Learn how alcohol and drugs interact with psychiatric medications.
  • Discover how to maintain employment and recovery with relapse prevention.

The Mental Health Association in New Jersey’s Career Connection Employment Resource Institute expands employment opportunities for persons with mental illness by creating system change through the promotion of best practices. We offer training for providers, consumers, family members and employers as well as technical assistance for mental health providers. We also collaborate with other community organizations.
