CORE Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered for possible admission into CORE Training, you must be a NJ Consumer of mental health or co-occurring services.  Co-occurring is defined as having a mental health diagnosis and a substance use disorder.  Completing Consumer Connections CORE Training does not guarantee employment.


In order to be eligible for admission into this program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a New Jersey resident
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Have a mental health or co-occurring diagnosis
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have one year actively working on recovery from mental illness or substance abuse condition, not recently hospitalized or in early recovery
  • Have a desire to volunteer and/or work in the mental health or co-occurring field as a peer
  • Able to positively benefit from a classroom learning experience
  • Have a belief and practice in personal recovery and wellness
