(CSP-NJ) Self- Help CentersMission
CSP-NJ Self-Help Centers are
designed to empower mental health consumers to realize a lifestyle centered on wellness, a
balanced state of social, spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health. Self-Help
Centers offer an environment for mutual aid self-help, learning and growth in a
comfortable, supportive setting easily accessible to New Jersey mental health consumers.
The atmosphere and daily operations are controlled through the efforts of CSP-NJ and the
consumer leaders/participants.
Self-Help Centers provide opportunities
that empower mental health consumers to:
- Feel connected to a social network in a safe, supportive
environment
- Realize and develop personal strengths and potentials to
assume control over
life enhancing wellness
- Enhance spiritual growth through a spirit of reaching out
and being reached.
- Advocate for the rights of people diagnosed with mental
illness
- Feel accepted for their unique personal lifestyle, interest
and talents
Become acquainted with resources which may
advance self-care, social, vocational, academic, and/or financial status.
