The Consumer Provider Association  in New Jersey

...a statewide network of mental health service providers who have also been consumers of mental health services.

Our purpose is to support, guide and advocate for our growing role and increased professionalism in
the mental health system. Utilizing our unique perspective, we help ourselves, other professionals
and the general public deal more humanely and effectively with the challenges of mental illness
and the treatment system.

We accomplish our mission through education, advocacy, professional development and networking. We seek ultimately to improve the mental health system throughout the state.

The CPA-NJ is a membership organization with a Board of Directors comprised of consumer providers who are elected annually by membership. The Board includes officers and regional and at-large representatives. The Board manages the organization’s committees, plans the Annual Meeting, publishes the newsletter, and develops training opportunities and events for the members. All full members are eligible to participate on the Board.

The CPA-NJ Advisory Board works with the Board of Directors to provide technical assistance and support for the CPA-NJ. It is comprised of consumer providers, mental health professionals and advocacy organizations, such as the Mental Health Association in New Jersey.
