MHANJ's Community
Education Program
Every Community Education
presentation focuses exclusively on topics of mental health and
mental illness. Currently, we have chosen six presentation topics
that are critical to the mental health movement.
- What is Mental Health and Mental Illness?
- Depression and Mood Disorders
- What is Anxiety?
- What is Schizophrenia?
- Housing for People with Mental Illness
- Employment for People with Mental Illness
Each presentation will be facilitated by a MHANJ staff member or a trained volunteer. The facilitator is responsible for educating the audience about one of these specific issues by giving current statistics and research about the issue. Trained volunteers may illustrate the issue through role-play, and a first-person speaker (someone who has mental illness and/or a family member) may share his/her personal perspective on the topic.
In the past, the Mental Health Players addressed a broad variety of issues. However, with one out of five Americans affected by mental illness, there is an urgent need for the Mental Health Association to provide New Jersey with quality information on this topic.
If you are interested in having the Mental Health Association serve your organization please call our Community Education Department at 973-571-4100, ext 25. |
