2004 Annual Meeting

 

MHANJ Executive Director Carolyn Beauchamp and MHANJ Legislative Advocate Cathy Chin present Assemblyman Joseph Cryan (D-15) Union County with the MHANJ Legislative Leadership Award for 2004.

 

Senator Bernard F. Kenny, Jr. (D-33) accepts the MHANJ Legislative Leadership Award for 2004 for his strong support of mental health issues.


     

Marty Tuohy, MHANJ Director of Development calls the 57th Annual Meeting of the Mental Health Association to order and welcomes the 200 guests for the evening.

 

Terri Wilson, Deputy Commissioner of the NJ Department of Human Services delivers the keynote address to over 200 mental health advocates.



Senator Kenny and Cathy Chin celebrate the Senator's acceptance of the MHANJ Legislative Leadership Award.

Christine Dow, Laverne Williams and Doreen Bobbie, join Terri Wilson at the MHANJ Annual Meeting.


Clarence Miller, of Essex County and a 1998 graduate of the Consumer Connections program addresses the Annual Meeting speaking about the impact the program and MHA has had on his life.


 

 

Vincent Polisano of Atlantic County and a 1999 graduate of Consumer Connections spoke to the audience about how MHA had given him the skills and the confidence to work full time and to testify before NJ State Senate Committees on behalf of mental health consumers.


Terri Wilson, Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services joins with MHANJ Executive Director Carolyn Beauchamp in presenting the certificates of completion to the 2004 Consumer Connection graduating class.


Nora Bell, 2004 Consumer Connections graduate speaks to her fellow graduates and over 200 mental health advocates about how MHA has changed her life.

Wayne Vivian, retiring MHANJ Vice President is honored for his six years of service on the Board of Directors.

Ginger Mulligan, Executive Director of the Mental Health Association in Monmouth County is honored with the MHANJ Advocate for Year Award for her many years of advocacy on behalf of NJ's children with severe emotional disturbance, adults with serious mental illness and her leadership in the NJ mental health movement.

Cathy Chin, MHANJ Legislative Advocate, receives the MHANJ Employee of the Year Award for 2004.
